Yes, but it needs to be converted to Victorian licence if you're planning to stay more than 6 months.

Can I drive with my overseas licence?

Yes, you can drive using your overseas licence when you first arrive in Victoria. If you are planning on staying for more than 6 months, you will need to convert your overseas licence to a Victorian licence within this time.

What if I'm already living in Victoria and driving with an overseas or interstate licence?

If you're currently living in Victoria and driving with an overseas or interstate licence, you'll have six months from 29 October 2019, to convert to a Victorian licence regardless of your Visa or if you have an international driving permit.

Can I use an international driving permit?

Yes, as long as it's:

  • carried with your overseas licence
  • from the same country as your licence
  • in compliance with the United Nations convention for international driving permits
  • in English.
